Hints & Tips for your Wedding Cake

Your Wedding Cake from start to finish

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding; with so many things to do, here are a few hints & tips regarding your wedding cake.

Choosing your cake designer
It's best to start looking for your wedding cake designer well in advance, checking styles, prices, and standards of workmanship

All wedding cake designers have their own style, and many are taking bookings at least one year ahead: so its advisable to check out what different suppliers have to offer, so as to locate the one which would compliment the look you are working towards.

Visiting your cake designer
Cake samples are very important, to ensure your creation will taste as good as it looks, always ask to sample their cake.

Ask to see the designers portfolio as well as actual examples of their work: this gives you a good guide to their skills.
Most designers have dummy cakes they can show you, together with sugar flowers and models.

Ask about delivery and set-up: an important task to take on.
If you decide to collect your wedding cake, clear your car boot as its a nice level surface.
Make sure you have enough head room for tall boxes.

Venue
When you have chosen your designer, check your venue has the required stand and knife.

If you have to hire items, check return dates and ask one of your friends or family to return them, as late returns may incur extra costs if it hasn't been agreed upon.

The Wedding Cake Table
One very important thing is to check the location of your cake table.

Will it be on wonky floorboards? if so, let your supplier know so that they can arrange to level the table.

Check for pictures hanging behind your cake table, these can be a distraction in your photos when cutting the cake.
Some wall lighting can also be a problem in the background of photographs.

I hope these few hints and tips will help in the smooth running of your big day
