Wedding Cake service information

Every wedding cake I create is important to me and special to you

I pride myself on a first class, friendly service to help your day run smoothly, therefore I do limit the amount of wedding cakes I create, so as to give quality time to your order.
More and more brides are ordering their wedding cake well in advance, therefore at least 6 months notice is advisable, especially for cakes required between April & September- the busy wedding months.
Wedding cakes with less notice can sometimes be accommodated depending on my work schedule.

Consultations
Consultations are by appointment only- either at weekends depending on wedding cake deliveries or weekday evenings from 6pm onwards.
Please contact me to arrange a no obligation visit to my studio to discuss your requirements.

My bespoke wedding cake design service is very popular and there is no extra charge for this service
or if there is a wedding cake on my website that you would like in a different colour, with different flowers or you may like to 'tweak' one of my designs a little, this can also be done.

You may like to consider the following aspects regarding your wedding cake before visiting, but if you are unsure about your design, thats fine, i have plenty of pictues for you to look through for inspiration

Design & Style of your Wedding Cake
Classic, romantic, humorous, wacky- the choice really is yours

Cake Shape
Round, square, heart, hexagon or wonky - to name a few, or maybe a tower of cup cakes or individually iced cakes.

Cake Set Up
Would you like a traditional cake set up on pillars, or a more contemporary style, with a cake frame or separators inbetween the cake layers, or you can opt for an american style stacked cake.
Alternatively, how about a yummy chocolate wedding cake, which can be set up in a number of ways and decorated with handcrafted chocolate decoration and served as a pudding.

Special Personal Aspects
Touches of your reception colours added to the design can complete the look you are aiming for, or are you considering handcrafted bespoke sugar models, or maybe a family heirloom within your design.

Fresh Flowers
If you are considering fresh flowers for your wedding cake, i will be happy to set it up at the venue for your florist to finish the decoration side of things
Important note: please be aware that some flowers are not suitable as a decoration for wedding cakes, due to toxins or moisture damaging the cake icing, so it is always best to check with your florist.
The Cake Fairy cannot be liable for any damage or contamination to your Wedding Cake caused by fresh flower decoration.

Cake Flavours
A tasting session at your consultation will help you decide.
The most popular flavours being-

Rich fruit cake laced with alcohol.
Luxury chocolate cake, layered with a luscious ganache filling.
Moist lemon sponge, a light tangy sponge with a choice of fillings.

Portions
The size of cake you will need depends on your chosen design and the number of guests you have.
Please look at Portions & Prices section.

Cutting Cakes
These cakes are very useful if you have quite a few guests to feed and not quite enough portions in your chosen design.
Please note:- Cutting cakes are only supplied with ordered wedding cakes.

Allergies & Special Dietary requirements
Nuts, Wheat, Eggs, Dairy
Wedding Cakes requiring a dairy free butter substitute can be accommodated
As all our wedding cakes are prepared in an envoiroment where nuts are used, they cannot be guaranteed to be nut free, therefore they would not be suitable for anyone with a serious nut allergy.

Unfortunately we do not supply wheat free or egg free wedding cakes.

Decisions, Decisions!
If you decide on a particular design during your consultation, a written quotation will be sent to you. A deposit will then be required if you wish to order, which will reserve your date.
                                                           OR
If you like what you see and would like me to create your wedding cake, but are undecided on the design, a £50 (non-returnable) deposit will ensure that I reserve your date until confirmation of your design.

Bookings & Payment
Having made your visit to The Cake Fairy, your wedding date will be held for 10 days to confirm your booking- if you wish to do so.
A 20% non refundable deposit together with the signed confirmation form is required to reserve your date.
Please note: your date can only be reserved on receipt of a deposit
The balance is due 1 month prior to delivery or collection- Please see terms and conditions
Please make cheques payable to 'The Cake Fairy' or bank transfer details can be found on your invoice
Wedding cakes cannot be released for delivery or collection until full payment for wedding cake and delivery is received and cleared.
Due to your wedding day being a very busy time for both myself and the Bride & Groom, The Cake Fairy cannot take 'cash on delivery'  on the day.

Prices
For a guide to my prices please go to Portions & Prices section.
As all my cakes are individually designed, prices vary. if there is anything within my website you would like a guide price for, please contact me.
Please note: The price sorter at the top of the wedding cake page is non-functional.

Hire
I have a number of stands that I hire out with my cakes, but it is always worthwhile checking with your venue to see if they can supply the base stand and knife within your package.

Delivery
I am happy to deliver and set- up your wedding cake. There is a delivery charge of 80p per mile round trip outside of London, this includes set-up of your cake.

For delivery of wedding cakes in the London area there will be an extra charge, please ask for details.

I will liaise with your venue to sort out a suitable time for delivery, so as to ensure your cake is displayed as you want it.

For locations further away which involves delivery by yourself, I can give written instructions for set-up and display to be handed over to the venue staff.
